Delaying entry to Prep
As a parent, you may choose to delay your child's entry to Prep if you feel this is the best option for your child. No formal documentation, assessment or approval is required. However, children must be enrolled in school by the time they are six years and six months of age.
Early entry to Prep
In some circumstances, families may wish to explore early entry to Prep. Early entry is considered through the Queensland Department of Education's Early Entry to Prep Framework, which helps determine whether a child demonstrates the social, emotional, physical and cognitive readiness required to begin school.
Being born in July does not automatically qualify a child for early entry. Each application is carefully considered against the requirements of the framework.
Families interested in discussing early entry are encouraged to contact our school office to arrange an appointment.
