PhOrMeS
Students in Years 3 to 6 participate in PhOrMeS, an evidence-informed literacy approach grounded in the Science of Reading and Science of Learning. PhOrMeS helps students deepen their understanding of how words work by explicitly teaching phonology (sounds), orthography (spelling patterns), morphology (word parts), etymology (word origins) and semantics (word meanings). Through this structured approach, students strengthen their spelling, vocabulary, reading comprehension and writing skills, supporting success across all areas of learning.

Languages
Bundamba State School offers a rich Indonesian Languages program to students in Years 5 and 6.
We are proud to host the Indonesian Language Learning Ambassador program each year. Students learn to play traditional Indonesian games, learn simple traditional dances, play the Angklung and cook traditional Indonesian dishes, including martabak manis, a sweet pancake dessert, and bakso, a popular Indonesian street food.
Home Reading
Reading is always a priority at Bundamba State School. Students are encouraged to read daily using age‑ and level‑appropriate personal and library books.
A sequential home reading program for Prep to Year 2 supports the development of confidence, fluency and comprehension. Parents and carers play an important role by listening to and encouraging their child’s reading on a daily basis.
Students in Years 3 to 6 are encouraged to read regularly for both pleasure and research during home reading time.
All students are provided a Reading Eggs account to support additional reading practice at home.
